Youth and Community Programme
Youth Committee The Youth committee is
made up of young people drawn from Arts Access projects. They are
annually elected by the other participating young people. The maximum
membership of the youth committee is 10 people aged between 13 - 25.

Shrewsbury Street Theatre Club

The Shrewsbury Street Theatre Club was created in July 2006 in response
to the feedback from Arts Access' 'Funday Monday' Project in Shrewsbury
Town Square. The creation of the Shrewsbury International Street
Theatre Festival in the same year gave the club an annual objective and
purpose. In the subsequent years this club has become a placement
provider for the Vinspired youth volunteering scheme, a constant point
of contact for the apprentices and has expanded into providing youth to
youth community outreach, by attending numerous events around the
county.

Volunteer Scheme Arts Access' youth
volunteering scheme is provided by Vinspired formally Millennium
Volunteers. Under the Millennium project we successfully supported 15
young people to achieve their 50 + hours certificates. In this round
under the new Vinspired scheme we are on course to achieve even higher
success.
In addition 8 of our youth members have been chosen in 2010 to sit
on a new Shropshire youth forum. Which is a Big Lottery funded project
being facilitated by the collaboration of the Shropshire Youth
Association and Vinspired.

Apprenticeships
Currently Arts Access has an informal apprenticeship scheme, where
talented individuals are matched up with working professional in order
to learn the trade on the job.
Arts Access' is currently researching accreditation paths for
apprentices, which would result in formal qualifications, either
delivered in house, or in conjunction with another provider.

Community Outreach
Arts Access has been involved in many aspects of community outreach.
Having worked with the spectrum of organisations from schools to
independent festivals and has also created events of its own such as
village hall arts events to Fundays in Shrewsbury Town Square.
The main outreach of the Roots to Inspiration programme comes from
participating in numerous festivals and events in and around the
county. Taking out performances and workshops in craft, theatre, circus
and street theatre. At most events the inclusion of youth volunteers
combines the delivery of volunteering opportunities for young people
with a peer to peer outreach.
Arts Access welcomes inquiries from other organisations about new cooperative opportunities.
